OUR STORY

What began as a casual drink in 2017 has grown into eight years of laughter-filled nights, reality TV binges, and a shared appreciation for both greasy takeout and fine dining.

Skylar & Spencer's first date was at JJ Dolan's in downtown Honolulu where Skylar insisted on getting the Giacomo pizza and Spencer agreed, even though he hated both sausage and olives. He resisted the urge to pick off all the toppings, and we spent the rest of the night bonding over Penn State and our travels. A few months after meeting, Spencer impulsively adopted a three-legged dog named Dodge — and from that point on, it became very clear: it’s Dodge’s world, and we're happy to just live in it.

We did long distance longer than we actually dated before Skylar made the move to San Francisco. But Spencer eventually followed Skylar to SF after getting out of the Navy. We both fell in love with the city that we call home, and have had so much fun trying new restaurants and dancing the night away at our favorite bars. We moved in together right before the pandemic in 2020, and after surviving lockdown life with Dodge and far too many hobbies come and gone, we knew we were in it for the long haul.

From celebrating small wins to exploring new corners of the world together, we’ve learned that life (a lot like champagne) is even sweeter when it’s shared. Travel has always been a big part of our relationship, and we’ve collected memories from places far and wide — including one very special trip to Italy.

The proposal was even more perfect than Skylar ever dreamed. Spencer made sure it was thoughtful, low-key, and full of intention. Before the trip, he asked Skylar’s entire family for their blessing during a ski trip to Brian Head, Utah. Knowing she’d eventually want to choose her own ring, he proposed with her late Grandma Shinn’s ring, given to him by Skylar’s mom. On the first night of their trip to Italy, Spencer rented a rooftop bar at sunset overlooking Piazza Navona in Rome. There, wrapped in golden hour light and champagne bubbles, he asked Skylar to marry him. They spent the next ten days eating and drinking their way through Italy as a newly engaged couple.

Since our engagement, we've taken our time curating a thoughtful wedding that is quintessentially us. We're most excited to bring all the people we love together to an island that means so much to us. Thank you for being a part of our journey. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
